The Macallan Terra is the realisation of discovering a defining moment. A beautifully complex single malt whisky, with a balanced flavour that embodies the distinct characterof toffee, sweet dried fruit, and rich wood spices. European and American oak casks, both 100% first-fill sherry-seasoned, are used which deliver darker colours, richer flavours and aromas. The map on the packaging features Jerez in Southern Spain, where the creation of the casks happens. Tasting NotesNoseDried fruits open on mass, debating as to who will lead. Emerging raisin is tempered by lemon zest. Settling, toffee apple and light ginger mingle giving way to heavier sweet notes. Intense fudge suggests it could be heavier. Lantbrukare har redan i flera hundra år destillerat whisky vid området av Easter Elchies House. Då de lokala lantbrukare skulle krossa floden Spey, brukade de pausa vid området för att återhämta sig och de drack också lokal whisky. The Macallan är mycket känd för sin satsning på kvalitet, så var läget redan då den lokala bonden Alexander Reid fick lagligt tillstånd att destillera whisky år 1824. Storheten och mångfaldigheten som omgiver The Macallan Estate är unik. Den ligger på ett område som har en ytterst vacker natur och all verksamhet där sker hand i hand med den omgivande naturen. Whisky experter anser att The Macallan ”är en single malt som alla andra bör jämföras mot”. Dessa komplimanger med otaliga pris som den vunnit gör The Macallan till världens värdefullaste whisky.
