In 1985, the Master Distiller at Cointreau travelled to Brazil, looking for specific and rare oranges for Cointreau Liqueur. He discovered the Passiflora Eludis (Latin botanical name for the Passion Fruit Flower) and fell in love with this intriguing, singular flower, with its powerful and fascinating perfume. Arriving back in France, the master distiller created a new, smooth and sweet liqueur, encapsulating the subtle taste of Passion Fruit ! The famous Passoã black bottle was designed to protect this precious elixir. This unique beverage results from a complex production process characterized by the gathering of the delicate fruits at a very precise stage of maturity and the exactness of the formulation in order to embody perfectly the delicate and singular taste of passion fruit.
