PittjesThe Pittjes brand was created in the early 1950s by the sons of a coffee roaster in Germany. Their journey into nut production started as sons discovered the indulgent properties of peanuts after having taken home and roasted peanuts that had dropped while being unloaded on the banks of the Rhine in the early 1930s. By the early 1950s the two sons, Johannes and Theodor, started playing an active role in the family business and put their ideas into practice with great energy and dedication. Their proximity to the border to the Netherlands played a major role for the name of the brand as it draws inspiration from the Dutch word "pittig" which means nutty. In order to offer guaranteed top quality flavour, the company has set the highest standards when purchasing all basic products and ingredients, processing and packaging for which they are regularly awarded internationally accepted certificates.
