HINE250 years of creationFor 250 years, through the expertise of six generations of Cellar Masters, the quality of HINE cognacs has gained worldwide recognition. In 1962, HINE was chosen as the official supplier to Her Majesty the Queen Elizabeth II of England, and is still the only Cognac House to hold the Royal Warrant today. In the 18th century, on the south coast of England, Thomas Hine left his home country at the age of 16 and headed for Franc at the peak of the French revolution. In Jarnac, near Cognac, he joined the company that, since 1763, had been making his father’s preferred cognac. Thomas made the acquaintance of Elisabeth, the daughter of the prestigious company’s owner. They fell in love and married in 1796. When his father-in-law died, Marie, his mother-in-law, chose Thomas to be head of the company. In 1817, he gave the company the name it bears to this day: Thomas HINE & C°.
